Rhonda Horowitz
Accounting
Rhonda Horowitz, a native of the Treasure Coast, joined Matheson and Horowitz’s accounting department in 2016. She is a graduate of the Florida State University. Upon graduating from college, Rhonda became employed with the Marriott Corporation working in several large cities as a management executive. After moving back home to Ft. Pierce, Rhonda worked for Beverly Enterprises as the Director of Admissions and Marketing at a local rehabilitation facility. Her career changed when she decided to work from home to raise her children, where she stayed very active in their schooling, while volunteering and working as a tutor. She also volunteered with several local charities particularly focused on children. With her vast knowledge of budgets and banking, she became employed at Matheson and Horowitz overseeing client trust accounts and assisting in the process of settlement of claims. When not working, Rhonda enjoys exercise and the beach, baking, dining and traveling, and staying active with her husband, children and Yorkipoo, Teddy.
Janeth Lagunas
Receptionist
Janeth Lagunas is employed at Matheson and Horowitz as the law firms’ receptionist. Janeth started working as a receptionist in July 2024, after spending 16 years in banking and finance. Janeth had an opportunity to gain new experience in the legal field and felt this was an area of work she was called to do. Janeth’s smiling face is a welcoming one for our clients and her friendly personality is well received by all, often during a time when clients are in very difficult life-changing situations following a work-related injury. Janeth is bilingual and fluent in Spanish and often translates in meetings and client mediations. In addition to her reception duties, Janeth assists with documenting computer and client files, scheduling and confirming appointments and processing and filing mail, among her many tasks. Her time outside of work is spent with family, often running around with her kids on the soccer fields.
Diane Norair
Lead Legal Assistant and Office Manager
Diane Norair is Matheson and Horowitz’s lead legal assistant and office manager. Diane was born and raised in Vero Beach. In 1989, Diane began working in the mail room of the workers’ compensation department for The Hartford Insurance Company in Orlando, Florida. Diane continued to work her way up within the company, continuing her education and completing her “All Lines Adjuster” license. During this time, Diane excelled at learning all aspects of the workers’ compensation system. Diane worked her way up the ladder and became a supervisor, handling claims for several major municipalities in Florida. In 2001, Diane decided to move home to Vero Beach with her two young children and began her career at Matheson & Horowitz, P.A. as a legal assistant. Diane has worked side-by-side with Michael Horowitz for nearly 25 years, eventually becoming the firm’s office manager in 2018. With 36 years in the workers’ compensation field, Diane truly enjoys helping injured workers as they process through their claim. When not working, Diane enjoys spending time at the beach and with her fiancé, children and grandchildren.
Elizabeth Peralta
Legal Assistant
Elizabeth Peralta is currently employed as a legal assistant for the law firm of Matheson and Horowitz. Elizabeth is the mother of 3 wonderful kids, her pride and joy, and is married to her high school sweetheart. Elizabeth started at Matheson & Horowitz in May 2021 initially working as receptionist, but showed tremendous promise and a willingness to learn, and was promoted to a legal assistant position within a year. Elizabeth performs initial intakes on new and potential clients and assists clients with many issues that may arise in their case. She is tasked with filing various legal documents, including Petitions for Benefits with the Office of Judges of Compensation Claims, preparing and responding to Requests to Produce, along with preparing and filing many other forms and court documents. Elizabeth is bilingual and fluent in Spanish, often translating for meetings with clients and for their mediations, along with being a certified notary public. She really enjoys helping injured people as they work through the workers’ compensation process, finding it extremely rewarding to assist people in their time of need.
