Biography
Attorney Edward "Ted" G. Matheson is the founding partner of the law firm Matheson & Horowitz. Ted attended the University of Florida and obtained a degree in finance. After graduating from college, he attended the University of Florida College of Law. He was a member of the University of Florida Law Review - a sign of outstanding academics and writing ability. After graduating from Law School, he spent approximately 3 years representing employers and insurance companies.
After working for these insurance companies, Ted became fed up with the way injured workers and disabled individuals were being treated by these companies. Therefore, in 1990, he formed The Law Firm of Bello & Matheson with Juan Bello. The Law Firm of Bello & Matheson was dedicated to representing only sick and injured individuals and did not provide any representation for employers or insurance companies. In 2000, former partner Juan Bello left to become a worker's compensation judge in West Palm Beach, Florida. At that time, a partnership was formed with Michael K. Horowitz, another attorney representing injured workers. Ted knew that Michael had the same desire to help the injured and disabled. Additionally, Ted had known Michael in his prior work as a defense attorney when Michael had cases against him. Ted was aware of the high level of legal representation that Michael provided and knew that he would be an excellent partner.
Since 1990, Ted has always resisted hiring associate attorneys. It has always been Ted's belief that an attorney must handle every aspect of a person's case and attend all depositions, mediations and hearings personally in order to have a full understanding of that client, his case and his needs. Our lawyers handle every aspect of the case personally and are always willing to meet with a client personally to discuss their case. Ted has been working since he was 14 years old and paid his entire way through both college and law school. He knows how tough it is for people out there trying to make a living. Ted understands how difficult it can be for a person who is unable to work due to any type of physical or mental condition and understands they need someone they can trust.
We are a small three-attorney law firm. We handle every aspect of our cases personally. Our goal is to work with our clients as closely as possible and to achieve the outcome that best meets their needs. There are times when this will be accomplished by going to trial and taking a very tough stand. There will also be other times when negotiations or working out an agreement may be in their best interest. The one thing that we always insure is that we are working with our clients, they are aware of every step of the process and are involved in reaching the outcome that is preferable for them.
Furthermore, the law firm of Matheson & Horowitz has an exceptional staff to assist you when you need help. "We have high standards in terms of our staff and how they communicate with our clients. We want our clients to get the information that they need in a professional manner. When the case is over, we want our clients to tell their friends and family about their positive experience at Matheson & Horowitz and that they received the best possible representation. We fight for our clients like they are our own family."
